“Who are we? We are Islam is peace. We want to eradicate Islamophobia. Our home is Britain. And we represent peace.”

It’s a new ad campaign in Britain: Islam is Peace. Buses and trains are sporting the legend, “Islam is Peace,” and an array of images, including that of a Muslim policewoman, a Muslim scout group, and a Muslim chef, attempt to show that Muslims in Britain are ordinary citizens, and should not be regarded with suspicion.

The group’s website derides as a “misconception” the idea that “jihad means holy war.” It speaks about jihad as involving a “struggle to improve the quality of life in society and the struggle against injustice, oppression and tyranny,” but says nothing about armed struggle. It leaves unexplained how innumerable thousands of Muslims worldwide could have gotten the idea that jihad had something to do with violence. The site also dismisses the idea that “terrorism is supported in Islam,” saying, “this misconception is one of the most widely held misconceptions about Islam today,” and quoting the Qur’an to show that “it is clearly Islamically unlawful to murder an innocent person.” However, it doesn’t specify what qualifies a person as innocent, and thus does not answer the jihadist claim that no non-Muslim can be innocent.

“Palestinian” spokesmen have denounced as lies and deception Israeli claims that remains had been uncovered on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount dating back to the period of Solomon’s Temple.

According to the Associated Press, the Israel Antiquities Authority Sunday announced it had discovered fragments of ceramic table wares and animal bones dating back to the first Jewish temple – from the 6th to the 10th centuries BC. The finds also included fragments of bowl rims, bases and body sherds, the base and handle of a small jug and the rim of a storage jar.

But the Islamic Trust denied that any discovery was made, AP said.

AP got it right when it stated that “the site [Temple Mount] represents the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”

For Muslims everywhere, and especially for the Arab nationalists out to appropriate part of the 3000-year-old City of David and turn it into the capital of a Palestinian state, denying any Jewish link to the most coveted sites has long been a central component of their strategy.

Now-deceased arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat and his Palestine Liberation Organization have spent a fortune in financial and political capital trying to “sever” the Jews’ claim to the Temple Mount.

Down the decades since 1967, Palestinian Arab academics, archeological “experts” and popular television and radio talk-show hosts have all collaborated to “prove” that there is no physical evidence to support the Jews’ claim to having had a homeland in “Palestine” two millennia ago.

At Camp David in 2001, while participating in negotiations with Prime Minister Ehud Barak under the auspices of US President Bill Clinton, Arafat shamelessly stated as “fact” that the Jews had never had a temple in Jerusalem, and that King Solomon had built his house of worship not far from Jericho.

Arafat in fact sought to be buried on the Temple Mount – a site the Islamic world calls its “third holiest” – and to which Muslims turn their backs when praying towards Mecca and Medina five times a day.

The mass-murderer of Jews and others believed that interring his corpse at the site would help strengthen the Arab claim to sovereignty over it.

Bible-believing Christians and Jews understand why the Temple Mount is so sought after by the PLO and in fact by the entire Muslim world.

According to both the Hebrew Scriptures (”Old” Testament) and the New Testament, Israel’s Messiah will establish His kingdom in Jerusalem, taking His place on the Throne of David that will be erected on the Temple Mount, and from there ruling over the nations of the world.

God’s mortal enemy has long sought to wrest the hilltop from Jewish control, hoping thereby to prevent this foretold messianic event from coming to pass.

The outburst of anger in response to the Israeli archeologists’ find should be seen in this context.

New Video by Al-Qaeda Commander in Iraq Abu Mus’ab Al-Zarqawi: “We are Fighting in
Iraq, but Our Eyes are Set Upon Jerusalem” [Excerpts]

MEMRI [Middle East Media Research Institute] – Special Dispatch Series – No. 1149 -
April 27, 2006 – On April 25, 2006, the Islamist web forum, posted a
video by Al-Qaeda Commander in Iraq Abu Mus’ab Al-Zarqawi. The video culminates in
footage of Al-Zarqawi with masked fighters, firing an automatic weapon, and the firing
of what the leader of the fighters claims are new missiles developed by “the brothers.”
The following is the translation of this clip:

“We are Fighting in Iraq, but Our Eyes are Set Upon Jerusalem”
[Graphic of hands holding up a black banner.]

Screen: “The Shura Council of the Mujahideen in Iraq”

Abu Mus’ab Al-Zarqawi: “When the Crusader enemy entered Iraq, it intended to gain
control over the [Islamic] nation, and to strengthen the state of the sons of Zion, from
the Nile to the Euphrates. But Allah has given the mujahideen sons [of the nation] the
strength to face the cruelest Crusader campaign, invading the lands of the Muslims.
They have withstood this invasion for more than three years.”

“My dear nation, we in Iraq are but a stone’s throw away from the place of the
Prophet’s ascension. We are fighting in Iraq, but our eyes are set upon Jerusalem,
which will only be restored to us through the guidance of the Koran and the support of
the sword. Allah’s guidance and support suffice.”

Psa 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Two years ago, the Los Angeles Times revealed that [Paul] Crouch [of the Trinity Broadcasting Network] paid a former employee $425,000 to stay quiet about an alleged 1996 homosexual tryst in Lake Arrowhead. TBN [has] had to fend off allegations of plagiarism, fleecing poor viewers out of hundreds of millions of dollars while living extravagant lifestyles, and annoying the broadcaster’s Costa Mesa neighbors with all-night concerts and a perpetually lit “Happy Birthday Jesus” sign that’s brighter than four suns.

But now Crouch must deal with the worst slur of 21st-century Christendom: his network, critics say, is soft on Islam.

The charge followed TBN’s recent decision to drop the half-hour Zola Levitt Presents from its broadcast schedule. Network officials told the show’s producers they were no longer interested in running the show after its longtime host, Zola Levitt, passed away this spring from lung cancer. Levitt’s ministry says . . . “TBN, you see, is modifying its programming to be suitable for broadcast in Arab nations.” Zola Levitt Ministries offered no elaboration but added it would “join the good company of Hal Lindsey in dusting our feet.”

“Dusting” refers to Jesus’ admonition to his apostles: if people don’t want to hear the Good News, “when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet” (Mt 10:14).

But the inclusion of Lindsey . . . was intended to inflame evangelicals. This January, Lindsey announced to followers that his “The International Intelligence Briefing” would no longer air on TBN after the network asked him to temper his statements on Islam. He cited no examples. TBN originally denied Lindsey’s claim, but network spokesperson John Casoria eventually retracted that statement, telling the conservative website WorldNetDaily that TBN was concerned Lindsey “placed Arabs in a negative light.”

This isn’t the first time TBN has faced the charge that it coddles Muslims. In January 2002, Crouch published an open letter to disgruntled TBN programmers explaining his fire-and-brimstone-free approach to proselytizing among Muslims.

“Let’s be careful how we treat the Arabs and Islam,” Crouch wrote. “Let’s not slam Mohammed and Islam. Let’s reach out to them in love.” Similarly, TBN released a statement after canning Zola Levitt Presents that read, “As to TBN being accused of reaching out to the Muslim world with the love of God, TBN must plead guilty. When Jesus gave his disciples the Great Commission, he said, go into ‘ALL nations,’ not just the non-Muslim ones.”

A muslim dentist made a woman wear Islamic dress as the price of accepting her as an NHS patient, it is alleged.

Omer Butt is said to have told the patient that unless she wore a headscarf she would have to find another practice.

It is claimed that the 31-year-old dentist asked to speak to the woman in private after she turned up for an appointment at his clinic in Bury.

According to the charges, he questioned her on whether she was a Muslim and told her that if he was to treat her she would have to wear Islamic dress.

He is also said to have read out a number of religious rules to her.

He then told his nurse to give the patient her own headscarf to wear, the accusation says.

Mr Butt is the older brother of former Islamic extremist Hassan Butt, who once declared he had ‘no problem’ with terror attacks on Britain and who said that September 11 “served the pleasure of Allah”.

He has since recanted and now calls for all Muslims to abandon violence.

The dentist also featured in immigration hearings involving an asylum seeker suspected of providing a safe house for Kamel Bourgass, an Algerian terrorist jailed for life for stabbing PC Stephen Oake to death in Manchester in 2003.

I wasn’t going to write about Ramadan in official Washington this fall season not again. But I just can’t resist.

First, there are all the holiday trappings of this by-now annual column such seasonal staples as my all-time favorite “war on terror” quotation from Abu Qatada, the al Qaeda-linked cleric. I just love to trot it out around Ramadan after President Bush has said something utterly ignorant about Islam meaning peace, or, addressing the Muslim pooh-bahs he always has in to the White House for a fast-breaking Iftar dinner, about how the jihadists have “twisted” Islam.

“I am astonished by President Bush when he claims there is nothing in the Koran that justifies jihad violence in the name of Islam,” Abu Qatada said about six years ago. “Is he some kind of Islamic scholar? Has he ever actually read the Koran?” Ah, me. Good stuff.

Then there’s the holiday excitement of combing through the White House Iftar dinner guest list looking for unindicted co-conspirators. Since I had to put this column together before White House Iftar 2007, I turned to White House Ramadans past, reading through the president’s old speeches-2001 through 2006 to see if I’d missed anybody he’d singled out for a mention.

And I had. White House Ramadan is so much better than bingo. In 2003 and 2004, Mr. Bush asked Faizul Khan, who is affiliated with the Saudi-funded Islamic Center of Washington and serves on the board of directors of the Islamic Society of North America, to give the blessing. This year, the Justice Department officially labeled Islamic Society as a U.S. branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, the movement aiming to establish a global Islamic empire, and also as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Hamas fund-raising Holy Land Foundation trial still awaiting a verdict in Dallas.

Then again, maybe the Islamic Society score doesn’t count in this holiday game since the official co-conspiratorialness of the group is practically brand new. Still, as Steven Emerson has pointed out, the Islamic Society has “never condemned terror groups like Hamas and Hezbollah by name,” which really should have come under White House consideration, if, that is, anyone at the White House ever considered anything. Heaven knows it’s hard enough finding good moderates these days. Look too closely and they might find a Shariah supporter. Shariah, of course, is Islamic law — wholly antithetical to Western-style liberty.

Take Talal Eid. In 2006, Mr. Eid gave the blessing at the White House Ramadan dinner, and this year Mr. Bush appointed him to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. As Robert Spencer has reported, Mr. Eid is a Wahhabi-trained imam certified by the anti-American Muslim World League who has actually called for the establishment of Shariah courts in the United States to regulate the family affairs of American Muslims.

Is a proponent of Shariah in the United States someone the leader of the Western world should be honoring? Hmmm. Let’s ask Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the courageous former Muslim opponent of Shariah from the Netherlands whose collaborator, Theo van Gogh, was assassinated in 2004 for their film critique of the Islamic repression of women under Shariah.

Oops. I forgot. This very Ramadan week, Ms. Ali had to leave Washington and return to the Netherlands for security reasons. Too bad Mr. Bush “forgot” to invite her to the White House before she left — not to mention all the other brave critics of Islamic repression, including Bat Ye’or, Brigitte Gabriel, Nonie Darwish and Wafa Sultan.

But in these post-September 11 days, only supporters of Shariah get those coveted holiday invites. Take the ambassadors from the countries of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The organization not only coddles terrorists and lobbies against freedom of speech at the highest diplomatic levels, but it also supports a code of human rights derived from Shariah, which, of course, denies human rights to women and non-Muslims.

These are the people who sup with the president every Ramadan, and, I imagine, chuckle discreetly through Mr. Bush’s remarks, as in 2006, about Islam’s “commitment to tolerance and religious freedom.” How do you say “we sure pulled the camel wool over his eyes” in Arabic? Under Shariah, of course, there is no religious freedom.

But who’s checking? No one at this White House. What about the next administration? I hereby pledge to vote for the presidential candidate who promises to stop submitting to Shariah suppers at Ramadan — even though that means I’ll have to think of something else to write about.

Almost half of Britain’s mosques are under the control of a hardline Islamic sect whose leading preacher loathes Western values and has called on Muslims to “shed blood” for Allah, an investigation by The Times has found.

Riyadh ul Haq, who supports armed jihad and preaches contempt for Jews, Christians and Hindus, is in line to become the spiritual leader of the Deobandi sect in Britain. The ultra-conservative movement, which gave birth to the Taleban in Afghanistan, now runs more than 600 of Britain’s 1,350 mosques, according to a police report seen by The Times.

The Times investigation casts serious doubts on government statements that foreign preachers are to blame for spreading the creed of radical Islam in Britain’s mosques and its policy of enouraging the recruitment of more “home-grown” preachers.

Mr ul Haq, 36, was educated and trained at an Islamic seminary in Britain and is part of a new generation of British imams who share a similar radical agenda. He heaps scorn on any Muslims who say they are “proud to be British” and argues that friendship with a Jew or a Christian makes “a mockery of Allah’s religion”.
Background

Seventeen of Britain’s 26 Islamic seminaries are run by Deobandis and they produce 80 per cent of home-trained Muslim clerics. Many had their studies funded by local education authority grants. The sect, which has significant representation on the Muslim Council of Britain, is at its strongest in the towns and cities of the Midlands and northern England.

Figures supplied to The Times by the Lancashire Council of Mosques reveal that 59 of the 75 mosques in five towns – Blackburn, Bolton, Preston, Oldham and Burnley – are Deobandi-run.
