I must mention something about certain types of people who may block or hinder deliverance. Probably you are aware of groups who practice snake handling and even drink poisons to demonstrate their spirituality. This is a demonic mockery of Mark 16:15-18, for “thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.” (Matthew 4:7). Jesus refused to use His power for vain glory.

A woman from Tennessee visited our church requesting deliverance from evil spirits. For a week, following each service, she received prayer and great numbers of demons poured out of her. On her final night, she testified of her deliverance, praising God for what already had been accomplished in her life.

During the invitation, she came for more prayer and the remaining demons were forced to manifest and began leaving one by one. Several workers were assisting in the deliverance. Suddenly from behind the workers came a shrill, chanting voice. “Ohhhhh Jeee-sus, Jeeesus, Jeee-sus! Ohhhh! Guh-low-ree, Hal-la-lu-yah, Ohhhh, Jeee-sus ….” This was repeated over and over and could be clearly heard over the shrieking commotion of manifesting demons.

Looking around we saw a woman whom no one knew with her hands shaking and waving spasmodically in the air. Her body was weaving and swaying to and fro, violently jerking as she was loudly “doing her thing.” We shook our heads, for we had witnessed this sort of carrying on before.

One of the workers moved over and began to talk with her, trying to quiet her and distract her away from the lady who was receiving prayer. The stranger airily informed him that she was from a certain Pentecostal church and she “knew all about deliverance.” Then she went at it again, blatantly chanting, shaking, swaying and jerking.

Workers attempted to stay between her and the one in deliverance. In spite of this interference, she darted around to the side and managed to reach in and grab the subject’s hand. As soon as this happened, the body relaxed and the demons ceased manifesting and took a breather. There was no mistaking it, this touch from the strange woman somehow had given them aid and comfort!

Courteously but firmly we managed to push away the “helpful” woman and resumed the work of extracting the demons. Still she stood as close as possible and continued her weird chanting. When a demon would be on the verge of leaving, the woman would become very agitated and wave both arms and shout in a weird guttural language. Immediately the demon would resist and refuse to come out and it was plain that he was being helped by the visitor.

An elder was summoned to deal with her. He asked her politely to be seated on a pew and simply sit and pray quietly (for she kept protesting that she wanted to help that woman). Standing her ground defiantly, she proudly assured him that she was not afraid. Again she loudly proclaimed for all to hear that she “knew all about deliverance.”

With this she attempted to push past him to get back at the woman receiving prayer. When he was quite firm and insistent about doing what she had been told, she snorted angrily. Snatching her handbag from the pew she stormed from the church, muttering furiously about these “narrow-minded Baptists.”

After this the deliverance proceeded smoothly and before long the building was filled with singing and shouting praises to the Lord Jesus for His deliverance of many bound ones. False Tongues, Heresy, False Gifts, Woman Preacher, Another Jesus (2 Corinthians 11:4), and others left. Satan evidently sent in reinforcements in the person of the woman visitor to block or hinder the deliverance.

Be on guard for people who come in and attempt to take over, dominate or outdo the regular workers. At our church we feel a deep sense of responsibility to protect those who come to us for prayer. Not just everyone who walks in is welcome to minister to those in need. Only those who are known and have accepted the authority of the pastor and elders in the local assembly are permitted to lay hands on people and pray.

False religious spirits particularly seem to enjoy making people twitch and shake like puppets on a string. We have seen so much jerking and spasmodic muscular contractions pro-duced by demonic manifestations that frankly we find all such “holy jerking” to be suspect. Demons love to twist and distort but the Holy Spirit never does.

Make no mistake, not every group which practices “gifts” or “knows all about deliverance” is of God (Matthew 7:21-22). Try the spirits (John 4:1). One good way to discern the true from the false is to look for the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22,23). Be aware that Satan will try to slip in to hinder you (Galatians 1:6,7). Test the spirits by God’s Word. John wrote: “Believe not every spirit ….” (I John 4:1-6), and earnestly warned that the spirit of Antichrist and the spirit of error (deception) were already actively at work among them. They were to doubt every supernatural teaching and teacher until they were proven to be of God.

Filed Under PASTOR WORLEY’S WRITINGS (EXCERPTS), #15 DEMONIC DECEPTIONS

We are warned of false prophets and teachers (Matthew 7:15-27; Mark 13:22; Acts 20:28-32; 2 Timothy 4:3, 4; 1 John 4:1-3; 2 Peter 2:1).

Many claiming to give prophetic words are not from the Lord. They will often claim direct revelation from God and insist it must be obeyed without being checked or evaluated.

Newly saved believers, often with liturgical church or no church or biblical background, are easily swayed by these charlatans. Many times a counterfeit love is the ploy used to hook and deceive the unwary.

Satan specializes in deception and is a very subtle and deadly foe. Often he appears as a religious angel of light as do his ministers (2 Corinthians 11:14,15). Author of confusion and father of lies, he can also come as a roaring lion (John 8:44; 1 Corinthians 14:33; 2 Corinthians 13-15).

Supernatural gifts and miracles of healing do not guarantee the genuineness of a work. A real moving of God in his fashion draws people to the Lord and magnifies Jesus Christ. The counterfeit will emphasize the human instrument, and will have little if any lasting fruit. The fruit of the Spirit is the acid test of any ministry.

False leaders often are very sincere, and may themselves be deceived about what they are doing. They also can manifest supernatural gifts (Matthew 7:22,23). Satan counterfeits all of the gifts, and even may do this using the name of Jesus (Seldom used is His full New Testament title, Lord Jesus Christ). Of course the agape love of Jesus cannot be produced, neither will the blood of the Lord Jesus and His resurrection be involved.

False workers emphasize physical sensations, emotional experiences and employ worldly wisdom which is earthly, sensual and devilish (demonic) (James 3:15). All this de-emphasizes Christ and produces a drift away from Him in search of more thrilling sensual religious experiences.

False love can be spotted because it is limited to a special group and snares participants into bondage. Within the group it promotes arrogant, critical and condemnatory pride. This relationship often sinks into a soul and body level and can bring heavy bondage and immorality.

Leaders of such groups claim revelations of knowledge and exclusive authority. They themselves refuse to submit to any authority for review or correction. Family structure is weakened by demanding that parental authority over children be replaced by control by the group.

Likewise, wives are urged to submit to the group rather than their own husbands. If a mate is unsaved or resists joining the group, divorce is encouraged. It is customary and expected that women leaders usurp authority over husbands or pastors.

Groups such as this often adopt distinctive names, identifying them as the one true representative of Christ on earth. Proud and boastful, leaders feed their followers on “special revelations” and “deeper truths.” Those so snared will increasingly lose their freedom. Instead of the fellowship they are seeking they come under control spirits. These will exploit the person, taking them deeper into legalistic bondage.

The cultic organizations are filled by confusion. Always the core of followers are subjected to pressure by harsh and condemnatory demands. This atmosphere creates a climate of hopelessness which causes the mind to go passive. Over and over quick and precipitate action is commanded, with no explanations or time to weigh and consider. Dependence on the group and leader is aggressively promoted to such an extent that there is real bewilderment among members about what constitutes God’s will.

Frequently employed are faulty situation ethics theories such as “the end justifies the means.” This can coerce embracing acceptance of immorality and all kinds of unrighteous actions and attitudes. Outsiders are treated coldly and rejected, even other believers.

Marks of counterfeit groups may include one of more of the following errors:

1. Presenting another Jesus, another spirit, or another gospel (Galatians 1:6; 2 Timothy 4:3,4; 2 Corinthians 2:4). Loyalty to Jesus is given lip service but in practice, allegiance to the group is stressed as being the most important trait.

2. Denial of the virgin birth, the blood, the work of the cross and the existence of sin.

3. They may go overboard distorting and literalizing Scriptures such as “hate your mother and father” (Luke 14:26).

4. Some press the doctrine of the return of Christ to an extreme, creating an apathetic laziness (2 Thessalonians 3:10, 11).

5. Use of isolated Scriptures to build weird doctrines by ignoring the context and the whole of the Bible.

6. Some are violently anti-Semitic; others are Spiritualists who are masquerading as Christians.

7. Some overemphasize the Old Testament and neglect the New Testament message of grace, the cross and the blood of Jesus.

Filed Under PASTOR WORLEY’S WRITINGS (EXCERPTS), #15 DEMONIC DECEPTIONS

According to accredited Masonic historians, the lodge claims to be a revival of the ancient philosophy of Egypt, Phoenicia and other pagan nations. These all practiced a secret worship in honor of a sun god (Lucifer).

Pagan societies have always sponsored public worship directed toward idols. However, the priests, rulers and philosophers always maintained a different, secret worship which was centered around a sun god. This latter was designated as “The Mysteries.” These “Mysteries” were revived by the “Masonic Fathers” at the beginning of the eighteenth century.

In other words what formerly constituted the mysteries of Osiris, Baal, Bacchus or Dionysus is today the mysteries of Freemasonry! They are identical in every feature. Masonic authority Dr. Mackey, states that they are the “same in substance, being derived from one source and celebrated in honor of the same deities.”

Pierson states plainly, “. . we readily recognize in Hiram Abiff the Osiris of the Egyptians, the Mithras of the Persians, the Bacchus of the Greeks, the Dionysus of the Fraternity of the Artificers, the Atys of the Phrygians, whose passion, death and resurrection were celebrated by these people.”

A converted witch relates that the initiation into Masonry (with two minor changes at the end) is identical to that of witchcraft! To embrace such rituals and vows which are rooted in ancient witchcraft and demon worship, places people under dangerous occult powers. Highly prized secret signs, hand grips, passwords, etc., bring lives under secret bondage.

Where these secret loyalties exist and have infiltrated the churches there is spiritual paralysis, blocking the free flow of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “I spake openly to the world … and in secret have I said nothing.” (John 18:20) This is in startling contrast to secret orders which enforce secrecy on their members with bloody oaths. Believers are urgently commanded to renounce the hidden things of darkness (Romans 13:12).

Baal was the same as Phoenician Moloch, the Greek Tyrian Hercules. Freemasonry calls him the “Tyrian Architect.” This demonic entity was worshipped on the high places. This is the reason for the “upper chamber” lodge meetings to “worship celestial bodies.”

Freemasonry is a wicked system of sworn deception, fraud and cunning craftiness from beginning to end. At least until the initiate has taken the Master Mason’s obligation, promoters are always careful to keep the real meaning of the pretended mysteries in the background. By the time the unsuspecting initiate moves to that level, he should be so bound that he will not rebel against the further bondage.

The Lodge teaches that its three support pillars are Wisdom, Strength and Beauty. These are borrowed directly from the Hindu Mysteries in the initiation of Brahma. The Worshipful Master represents rising sun (east); Senior Warden, setting sun (west); and Junior Warden, the sun at Meredian (south).

In every symbol, ceremony and emblem of Freemasonry we are confronted with nothing but the sun-god (Lucifer). This is ancient Baal worship and appears in every religion from the Druids to Hinduism.

“The Point within a Circle” is another thinly disguised “lift” from paganism. Borrowed from Baal mythology, it is a true representation of the male organ of generation and the veneration of it. Phallic worship originated in Egypt where it was reverenced as a religious rite. This was the core of the worship of Tammuz or Adonis (Ezekiel 8). God savagely attacked this type of religion under the name of Baal Peor (Numbers 25:3,5; Deuteronomy 4:3; Psalm 106:28; Hosea 9:10) Again from Dr. Mackey, “The Masonic point within a circle is undoubtedly of phallic origin.”

Masons changed names in the Egyptian mysteries from Osiris to Hiram Abiff but retained a similar legend for the initiations. Leaders burned their manuscripts in 1720. To secure acceptance by Jew and gentile the names of Hiram and Solomon were interspersed. They appropriated the Bible and Apostle John to give the organization a “Christian” veneer. Mackey sums up, “Freemasonry both in whole and in part, is literally and truly the secret worship of Baal, or the sun god.”

An ex-witch quotes from a Masonic book to be read by 33rd, 32nd, 31st and 30th degree Masons “whose lives prove they are not Christians.”

“That which we must say to the crowd is we worship a god, but it is a god that one adores without superstition. To you, Sovereign Grand Inspector General, we say this, that you may repeat it to the brethren of the 32nd, 31st and 30th degree. The Masonic religion should be, by all of us initiates of the high degree, maintained in the purity of the Luciferian doctrine.

“If Lucifer were not god, would Adonay – Jesus, the god of the Christians whose deeds prove his cruelty and hatred of men, barbarism and repulsion for science – would Adonay and his priests calumniate him? Yet Lucifer is god! Thus the doctrine of Satanism is a heresy and the true and pure philosophical religion is the belief in Lucifer, the equal of Adonay, Jesus Christ. But Lucifer, god of light and god of good is struggling for humanity against Adonay, the god of darkness and evil.”

Also, in 1942, from Locked Keys of Free Masonry by Manly D. Hall (a 33rd degree Mason) concerning the Council of 33 (second highest council within the Masons):

“When the Mason learns that the key to the Warrior on the Block is the proper application of the dynamo of living power, he has learned the mystery of his craft. The seething energies of Lucifer are in his hands and before he may step onward and upward, he must prove his ability to properly apply energy. He must follow in the footsteps of his forefather Kubla Cain, who with the mighty strength of the war god hammered his sword into a plow ship.” (The Warrior on the Block rite is one of human sacrifice!)

For additional information on Freemasonry, recommended reading would be two books by Edmond Ronayne, The Master’s Carpet and MAH-HAH-BONE. Available from Ezra Cook, PO Box 796, Chicago, Illinois, 60690.
8. Punishment and reward motivation or control of behavior and attitudes through ruthless use of fear
9. Denunciation of others, particularly of those who question or deny the cults and their teachings
10. Separation and isolation of followers from families and friends and the formation of communal living cells to facilitate centralized control and enforce obedience.

The more of these practices which are in evidence, the more cultic and demonic the organization is.

I was two and a half years into my second marriage and we were attending a small prayer and Bible study group which met in a home. Much to our surprise, the lady of the house began to cast out demons from those in attendance. Since we were all amateurs and the prayer meeting seemed to have lost its original purpose, we decided to visit Hegewisch Baptist Church. There we found deliverance proceeding on under scriptural guidelines and many persons were getting help by well trained, efficient and very competent workers.

After the woman leader of the prayer group had given us a “prophecy,” my wife began to suffer from mental anxiety. The woman had said that our marriage would break up unless my wife received deliverance. Allegedly this was to set me free to “minister.” We agreed my wife should go south to rest.

While she was gone, I enjoyed the feeling of being free, and began to think how much easier it would be to serve the Lord all alone. No more hindrances and no split personalities to cope with. It sounded great and eagerly I sought for confirmation in the Bible.

You find what you look for. I read “Choose ye this day whom you shall serve” (Joshua 24:15) and “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” (Romans 8:30). I was really hooked and deceived by this devilish use of scripture. I wept and fervently declared I would surely choose God. I would allow no creature, not even my wife, to separate me from the love of Christ! I was elated with religious feelings as I called Miami to have an attorney arrange for another divorce. After all, had not God led me to the verses?

The Lord intervened to stop my foolishness however, and upon her return my wife flatly refused to sign any papers. She had been reading Pastor Worley’s book, Battling the Hosts of Hell — Diary of an Exorcist and wanted to ask some questions. I agreed to take her to his office for an appointment. I dropped her off and went to park the car. When I walked in, the pastor let me have it with both barrels, repeating essentially the same things a friend in Florida had written me earlier.

The minister asked me point blank, “Do you love your wife?” I said that I did but would give her up if the Lord asked it. He pointed out how illogical this was since God was in the business of building homes and marriages, not destroying them. It made no difference what our status was when we married. Once we had pledged ourselves to each other in holy matrimony, then it became God’s will for us to be together.

As he reasoned with me, the scales dropped from my eyes. At last I began to see how I had been deceived by a sly and vicious enemy into thinking that my marriage must be sacrificed to please God. What an evil fraud to be persuaded that you do God a service by disobeying His Word. Tears of joy filled my eyes as I realized the trap from which I had been rescued by sound counsel from the Word of God. I loved my wife and we would have a life of fulfillment together, not separated.

Happily we left the office after having forgiven one another and pledging our love anew. When all this falsehood had taken hold of me, I had removed my wedding band and put it away at home. We stopped at a cafe later and as we were enjoying the restoration of our relationship, my wife noticed my ring was on my hand! Although I had not worn it for days, there it was, and I had not put it on! Praise the Lord, now we are ever on the alert for Satan’s moves to divide us and are determined to draw close together to work for the Lord. We also learned by a near disaster that all prophecies are not valid.
