In the name of Jesus Christ, we command Satan’s demons to fight against and destroy each other (Eph3:10).  Specifically, we command all marriage breaking spirits and family hindering demons to attack the spirits of Ahab and Jezebel.

We command the demons of power and control to attack the spirits of pornography and Eros; the spirits of violence and torture to attack all the spirits of human subjection, degradation and submission.

 We command the spirits of riches and wealth by greed and covetousness to attack the spirits of lust for one world rulership, one world currency, and total control of the world system.  And the spirits of anti-capitalism to attack the spirits of poverty, hatred for believers, and anti-Americanism in Jesus name.

Let the spirits of war between the nations and the spirits of  destruction, hatred and anger attack the spirits of political and spiritual blindness, rage, mockery, vengeance, evil political science and influence, the Illuminati and Communism in Jesus name. Let the spirits of Antichrist, 666 and false religions attack the spirits of Roman Catholicism, and Masonry, the spirits of infirmities, sicknesses, weaknesses, deformities and accidents.  Lord let them attack the spirits of alcohol, drugs, nicotine, bad nutrition and abortion.  Let them destroy the spirits of mind control and darkness and attack the spirits of Leviathan and pride.

Heavenly Father, we ask You to loose burning, judgment and destruction upon all disobedient and reluctant spirits that fail to follow these commands promptly.

There is a strong evil spirit named Leviathan.  This extremely powerful demon has been repeatedly encountered.  The more we know about what he does and how he operates, the more likely we are to win in this fierce contest with him. 

Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.  Thou brakest the heads of Leviathan in pieces, {and} gavest him {to be} meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness. (Psalm 74:13,14)

Here Leviathan is associated with water and the ocean and is pictured with multiple heads. 

There go the ships: {there is} that leviathan, {whom} thou hast made to play therein. (Psalm 104:26)

In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that {is} in the sea. (Isaiah 27:1)

Here he is called both a dragon and a serpent and again is connected with the sea. 
 
The most extensive reference to this strange creature is found in Job 41.  The fact that the Bible devotes an entire chapter describing him indicates his importance.  The Modern Language translation reads: 

Can you draw out the crocodile with a hook or hold down his tongue with a cord?           
Can you put a fish line through his gills or pierce his jaws with a spur?             
Will he make repeated requests of you?  Will he use friendly words in addressing you;
Will he make a bargain with you hast you should take him as your servant for life? 
Would you play with him as the birds or keep him as a plaything for your girls? 
Will fisherman bargain over his, apportioning him among the merchants? 
Can you fill his skin with barbed darts or his head with harpoons?
Lay your hand upon him then remember the conflict.  You will not do it a second time! 
The man who hopes to master him will be disillusioned.  At the sight of him a person is paralyzed. 
No one is foolhardy enough to stir him up.  Who then is he that can stand before me
And whom have I borrowed that I should have to repay him.
Everything under the whole heaven is mine.
I will not be silent concerning his limbs, his strength, his artistic proportions. 
Who has ever stripped off his thick coat of mail or pierced his impenetrable scales? 
Who can open the doors of his mouth; around his teeth there is terror. 
His back is shingled with scales closely fitted together with a tight seal. 
So near are his scales to one another that no air can get between them. 
They clasp one another,  joining so closely they cannot be separated. 
His sneezing sparkle light; his eyes are like rays of morning.  Out of his jaws come burning torches and sparks of fire shoot out. 
From his nostrils vapors issue as steam from a boiling pot over burning rushes. 
His breath sets coals on fire; a flame issues from his mouth. 
Such strength dwells in his neck that panic moves before him. 
The folds of his flesh close in on each other firmly and are immovably cast upon him. 
His heart is as hard as a rock, solid as a nether millstone. 
When he raises himself up the mighty are afraid and are beside themselves with panic. 
To hit him with a sword is useless; so is a spear, a dart or javelin.
To him iron is as straw and copper as rotten wood. 
Arrows do not rout him, sling stones he treats as stubble. 
Clubs are counted by him as reeds and he mocks the rattle of javelins. 
His nether parts are like potsherds, they leave threshing sledge grooves in the mire. 
He makes the deep to boil like a pot, the sea like a vessel of ointment. 
Behind him he leaves a foaming wake and one wonders if the sea might be growing fast. 
On earth there is not his equal.  A creature devoid of fear, he looks down on all that is highest.

He is king over down on all that is highest.  He is king over all the sons of pride.  (Job 41:1-34) 

By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent. (Job 26:13)

Leviathan particularly hates these passages and the first and second commandments. 
 
Although we know little about Leviathan’s work, this chapter and other references definitely connect him with the sea.  Undoubtedly he is the inspiration for the various mythological gods of the sea: Neptune, Poseidon, Dagon  and others.  Always there is one demon god with his characteristics who rules the seas or rivers.  Some believe Leviathan was the chief deity worshipped in Atlantis and that this kingdom was destroyed by God in judgment. 
 
Confronting Leviathan in deliverance has uncovered only a few of the many things that he does.  Repeatedly Leviathan has been the culprit when there have been severe problems with Bible study or concentration on spiritual goals.  Restrictive bondages which hinder worship or most any genuinely spiritual activity have involved him also.  I refer to a real flowing with the Holy Spirit, not the shallow, religious externals which often pass for spirituality today. 
 
Another area where he works is learning difficulties for youngsters, including reading.  A common characteristic of Leviathan is that his presence is almost always due to a family curse.  Usually everyone in the family will have problems in this area in varying degrees.
   
To break the curse, declare: “I do break the curse of Leviathan back to ten generations on both sides of the family, and destroy any legal rights or ground which give evil spirits reason to operate.  I destroy all these in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.” 
 
Next move directly against the evil spirit by name, ordering him to manifest and leave in Jesus’ name.  Be insistent and persistent.
 
Believers need genuine edification by prayer in the Spirit along with the understanding; Bible study; heartfelt praise; and fellowship with the Lord’s people.  Depending upon how much control he exerts over an individual, these will be hindered or stopped by Leviathan.  Some deliverance workers have reported the discovery that Leviathan is responsible for stopping revival movements.  He often works in conjunction with ruling spirits in the heavenlies to block and hinder the moving of God’s Holy Spirit; especially in the climatic, final end time revival. 
 
As you battle with Leviathan you will learn why scripture declares him to be a powerful, wily foe and a nightmarish monster.  His description is so frightening it is probably just as well that we cannot see him face to face.

I learned of the ministry of Hegewisch through some deliverance tracts.  A friend loaned me a tape by Pastor Worley called “The Spirit of Leviathan.”  Listening to this radically changed life for our family.  Although each of us had received some deliverance in the past, we had never heard of this spirit.  We listened to the tape and broke all ancestral curses and the servitude they produced.  Also we bound Leviathan from working in the lives of our family.
 
The next day my husband found a live, three foot snake in our kitchen!  Never, in the four years we have lived in the city have we ever seen a snake, not even in the grass or around the garage.  Yet here in the same room where we had bound the serpent Leviathan, was a real, live snake.  We were convinced and sought deliverance from this spirit. 
 
We both received much deliverance from this demon and his friends.  Before we went into deliverance, my husband and I assumed that our own deliverance in this area would be primarily from spiritual darkness rather than pride.  However, God revealed this was a faulty assumption during the sessions.
  
It had only been a year since my husband had been delivered from a nasty spirit called Arrogant Pride.  At the same time I was delivered from one of Spiritual Pride.  We had called them out as pride because we did not know the exact names.  During this new battle with Leviathan we discovered the specific names of spirits which had been cast out the previous year.
 
One of the last strongholds was Little Pride for he was so well hidden that we kept overlooking him. Thank God!  He was exposed in both of us and cast out.  Another thing revealed was the occultic nature of my spouse’s Navy initiation at the equator.  He had picked up evil spirits through submission to the ritual.  The Bride of Neptune was renounced, curses broken and the certificate celebrating the event was destroyed.  Leviathan is associated with the sea and is the root of all the sea gods in the world.
 
After our pastor’s wife listened to the tape and she too received deliverance.  Demon spirits of Logic, Rationalization and Justification manifested in her.  The Pride in Knowing and using these things to find answers had to be renounced and repented of before she could be freed.  Who would have suspected these things? 
 
A few days later while speaking on the phone with my sister I shared about the tape briefly and urged her to read Job 41.  I also told her about the snake in our kitchen.  I urged her to listen to the tape prayerfully. 
 
An hour later she called back and said, “Surprise! I was sitting on the floor in the front room when my dog came up behind me and put  a dead snake at my feet!”   She also has lived in the same house for years in a city and never once had she seen a snake there.

As mentioned earlier, Job 41 is the key passage about Leviathan.  Most of those who have this powerful spirit never get delivered, for one of his chief jobs is to block deliverance.  Ministers refusing to open up to the ministry of deliverance are controlled by a Leviathan spirit who is their chief problem.  Most who fight the deliverance ministry have powerful Leviathan spirits and are rarely delivered.  Strong’s Concordance (#3882, #3867)  defines Leviathan as a wreathed animal or a serpent.   He is also called the Constellation of the Dragon, or Orion.  Within the constellation Orion there are seven stars, each with a name.  These names have been found helpful in dislodging Leviathan in deliverance.  Pleaides and Articus are two of these seven stars (demons) tied in with Leviathan.  Often when you manage to force them out, Leviathan also suffers defeat. 
 
Another word for Leviathan means to twine, to unite and to remain.  Again we are reminded of his serpentine nature and that he is a strongman.  A word which occurs six times in the Old Testament comes from a root word which means to bend or twist.  It means literally wreathed; like a wreath; to be wreathed; gathering itself in folds.  The context suggests some form of aquatic monster which dwells in the sea.  In the scriptures the sea represents nations of people.  The sea is the voice of many waters, or many peoples, in the Book of Revelation. 

Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, {and} gavest him {to be} meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.  (Psalm 74:14)

This is a reference to Pharaoh and the Exodus which parallels with another Hebrew word “tannon,” which means a sea or river monster.  The word occurs again in Ezekiel 29:3-5 symbolizing Pharaoh and the Egyptians.  Oftentimes there is an Egyptian spirit tied in with Leviathan, a spirit of the world and worldliness. 
 
In Job reference is made to a dragon.  According to ancient mythology, a dragon was supposed to cause eclipses by wrapping himself around the sun.  Leviathan was considered to be a great mythical monster, and was identified with the Babylonian mother goddess, Timat.  The father of Timat was Apsu in the Babylonian creation story.  This monster fought with Marduk by reciting charms and casting witchcraft spells.
 
In the Word there is a seven headed monster which takes us back to the constellation Orion and its seven stars.  The seven heads are the seven stars and the creature is described as a fleeing serpent, the tortuous serpents smitten by Baal. 
 
There is a dragon in the sea (people or nations) and God is going to slay him (Isaiah 27:1).  The noun translated Leviathan may also designate serpents such as might be roused by snake charming magicians.  These men were also reputed to be able to impose curses, therefore snake charming curses are involved here.

There is another root word, Lawa,  in the Hebrew (Strong’s #1087)  used once in Ecclesiastes 8:15.  It refers to the joining of an item or a person to someone or something else.  Significantly, we believe that in the Bible this refers to foreigners who join God’s people as converts, the joining of an alien thing to God’s people. 

Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labor the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.  (Ecclesiastes 8:15)

In general, I think this refers to the way which hedonistic pleasures stay with a man.  These pleasures will cling to a man.  Again the reference is to clinging, writhing and twisting.  They get caught up with a man internally. 
 
Job 41 says, Canst thou draw out Leviathan with an hook?  Or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?  In a Dallas congregation there was a man from a hard background, a career army officer in Viet Nam.  When he came home his brains were scrambled.  Officials of the Army had judged him to be a 100% disabled schizophrenic.  He appeared on the preacher’s doorstep one day after hearing his radio program.  Six months ago began a battle such as had never been seen by these workers before. 
 
Being a disabled veteran, he is required to report every month to a psychiatrist to maintain his disability.  After deliverance he came to the preacher and said he was so much better that he was no longer schizophrenic.  His question was, “What am I going to tell them when I go back for my interview?”   The pastor asked what they wanted to find out.  He said they just wanted to know whether or not he was still crazy.  He was advised him to tell them what happened to him in deliverance.  It worked.  After that report they were absolutely convinced that he was insane! 
 
In his Bible studies he came to believe that Behemoth (Job 40) might be lodged in the will  of man.  That big sluggish animal is strong, brassy and very hard to budge.  Leviathan represents or burrows into the self  of man. 
 
The whole context of the book of Job is an ongoing debate between Job and his friends.  Finally, God announces that He has had enough and demands an answer.
 
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?  (Job 38:4, 31) 

Here at the culmination of an entire revelation, God gives this righteous man of God an entire discourse about Leviathan.  Some call him a crocodile but he is an evil spirit.  Although we do not have complete understanding, we can utilize what we do comprehend. 
 
When we get down to that real, true self, we are in Leviathan’s stronghold, deep inside.  Even after ousting him, self will remains.  The king may say, that this is as far as he is willing to go.  If you heed him, you will go no farther. 
 
Job 41:8 warns that when we attack Leviathan we will remember the struggle and will not want to repeat it.  This reminds us of our old self who wants things to remain hidden.
 
Job 41:15 reveals that Leviathan is proud of his scales which are so tightly sealed that no air can come between them.  In scripture, air, breath and wind are all synonymous with the Holy Spirit. 
 
Because of the effects of Leviathan’s tight coils about them, victims are so closed in and choked that the moving of the Holy Spirit is inhibited.  They can neither hear nor discern the Spirit; therefore they never get a word from the Lord nor do they move in the gifts.  The reason is that no air of the Spirit is able to get in because of this demonic stranglehold.  Scales are said to be joined together and cannot be sundered. 

By his sneezings a light doth shine, and his eyes {are} like the eyelids of the morning.
           
Out of his mouth go burning lamps, {and} sparks of fire leap out. (Job 41:18,19)

This brings to mind James’ references to the tongue kindling a fire.  Problems involving loose tongues root in Leviathan.  Anytime he infiltrates a church he looses some of that fire and soon the whole place is ablaze.

Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as {out} of a seething pot or caldron. (Job 41:20)

This refers to a cutting, critical tongue rooted in a spirit of Pride.  This smoke going out of Leviathan’s nostrils represents false praise and worship.  It is like the smoke going up from the incense burning of Nadab.  Because the person is so bound with pride and self importance, he is unable to really praise God.  The man wrapped up in himself makes a very small package!
 
In verse 22, “in his neck remaineth strength.”  Stiffnecked Pride and Stubbornness work with Leviathan.  Sometimes strength in the neck can be a negative thing, because Stephen spoke of those who were stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart. 

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers {did}, so {do} ye.  (Acts 7:51)

Bowing the neck is rebellion and this brings us back to pride and sorrow.  Dismay goes with stubborn people just as the flakes or the folds of Leviathan’s flesh are joined together; firm in themselves and unable to be moved.  These people resist being told anything, for they know it all.  Haughtily they declare, “God showed me that a Christian can’t have a demon.  You’re in deception, brother, etc.” 
 
His heart or chest is said to be as firm as a stone, as hard as a piece of millstone (verse 24).  Hard and cold heartedness are both tied to Leviathan. 

His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether {millstone}.
           
When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.  (Job 41:24,25)

In verse 31, he makes the deep to boil like a pot. 

Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.  (Psalm 42:7)

The deep is where the real you is located.  There is a deep in us and we are very careful about who we allow to come in there.  God can get in there, deep calls unto deep.  The Leviathan spirit will cause that deep to boil with restless turmoil inside.  Sometimes sleep is disturbed because of something boiling around buried inside.  This might be a Leviathan spirit at work.  This boiling is not only in you but it also stirs up other people. 
 
If you ever spend much time around schizophrenics you will notice that they will wear you out.  They have a problem and will give you one also.  We need to become steady and unmovable.  We should be stirred only about God’s righteousness and the evil that is in the world.

Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty {is} a fading flower, which {are} on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!
           
The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden underfeet: 
           
In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
           
But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble {in} judgment. 
           
Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which {is} in Jerusalem.
           
Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: forI have heard from the Lord God of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth. (Isaiah 28:1, 3, 5, 7, 14, 22)
 
Spirits which operate under the crown of pride  in Isaiah 28: Drunkard, wine (1,3); Error, wine, strong drink, false dreams and visions, stumbling in judgment (7); Filthiness, uncleanness (8); Scorn (14); Deception, lying, falsehood, compromise (15); Vexation (19); Mockery, bands (22); Snares,broken, backward, taken (13); Weary (12). 
 
When attacking the Crown of pride use verses 2, 5, 6, 16, 17 18, 19. 
 
Loose upon the person a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty; and spirits of judgment, strength, counsel, excellence, knowledge, understanding, rest and refreshing (Isaiah 28:5, 6, 9, 12, 29). 
 
Isaiah praises God for the deliverance of His people. 

For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, {even} to the ground; he bringeth it {even} to the dust.  (Isaiah 26:5)

In verse 11 two spirits associated with pride are listed: shame (also see Proverbs 11:2; Psalm 119:78) and envy (I Timothy 6:4).  Other lords have dominion over His people (Isaiah 26:13).  God has destroyed them (Isaiah 26:14; Proverbs 16:18).  Destruction of the proud and wicked is prophesied in chapter 26. 
 
Isaiah 27 begins with a promise that the ruler of pride, Leviathan, will be punished. 

In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even Leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that {is} in the sea. (Isaiah 27:1)

Crooked  means full of twists and turns and deceitful and indirect; Piercing means to penetrate into or run through; to make a hole or opening in, to force a way into or through. 
 
Isaiah 28:1,3 gives a warning to the spirit called the Crown of Pride.  This crown is associated with the drunkards of Ephraim and being overcome with wine.  Wine and strong drink are gateways for the entrance of this spirit.  It sits on a crown on the top of the head and verse 1 pronounces his judgment. 
 
He is filled with a glorious beauty which God declares will fade away.  This evil crown will be replaced with the crown of glory and a diadem of beauty Strongs #6843: diadem – a crown as encircling the head; also a turn of affairs (i.e. mishap), morning; Dictionary: diadem – a crown or headband (cloth) worn as a symbol of power). 
 
The rulers of God’s people are warned:
 
Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which {is} in Jerusalem. 
           
Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: (Isaiah 28:14,15)

This crown of pride was sitting on the head of Jerusalem’s rulers causing error and perversion of justice to flourish.  Their covenant with death and hell, although worthless, kept them in a state of passivity and also false security.  According to Proverbs 16:18, all of this will fall and be destroyed and fall.  These chapters record the bound condition of God’s people and His promise to destroy them and their work. 
 
Specific Pride spirits:  Foot of Pride (Psalm 26:11); Rod of Pride (Proverbs 14:3); Crown of Pride (Isaiah 28:1,3); Great Pride (Jeremiah 13:9); Pride of Life (I John 2:16). 
 
Outward manifestations of a Haughty spirit in women (Isaiah 2:16): Head Held High; flirting Eyes; Walking with Mincing, Seductive Steps; Bejewelled foot of pride: transgression, no fear of God, flattery, vanity, iniquity, deceit, lack of wisdom, evil, mischief, love of evil,(verses 1, 2, 3, 4, 12).  In battling with him, use verses 5-10. 
 
The rod of pride is found:  In the mouth of the foolish {is} a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them. (Proverbs 14:3)

Orion has been identified as a First Lieutenant of Lucifer.  He enters anytime there is a compromise of the Word of God.  Under his control are many religious counterfeits such as False Peace, Piety, Prince Charming and a great host of intellectual and philosophical spirits. 
 
He is a very proud, beautiful and intelligent spirit and puts up a good front for Christians or a church congregation.  He will arrange False Gifts to give a veneer of praise, worship  and spirituality.  Genuine gifts will be hindered and limited.  Also working in the area of false gifts is the spirit called Beelzebub.
 
Orion delights in seizing ministers, and particularly those working in deliverance.  Often he demands that they make compromises in return for fame, glory, money, sex, etc.  For example, he may insist that ministry be confined to a specific area or only to certain people.
 
If forced out, he will attempt to linger nearby and entangle his former victims again.  Pride is used as a bait to infiltrate and undermine a ministry.  Orion is especially interested in subverting deliverance ministries.
 
This vicious spirit will marshall family and peer pressures; semantic, philosophical, theological and logical arguments against the true ministry.  These and other pressure tactics often lead to radical modifications or abandonment of the Biblical ministry of casting out evil spirits. 
 
Orion enlists the strong powers of mind control, witchcraft and philosophy to capture the mind and hinder producing fruit.  To overcome these could be the hardest decision you will ever make. 
 
Orion does not block all deliverance.  He is far too shrewd for that.  He allows ministry but sets limits.  Once the victim is ensnared, the demon edits lifestyles, suppresses ministry and makes workers complacent about deliverance.  This has happened repeatedly! 
 
If necessary, he will effect a physical move for workers from fruitful ministry to one devoid of the Lord’s blessing.  He will create and then supply all needs.  He injects just enough guidance to cause the victim to believe he has heard from the Lord.  Orion is quite capable of providing financial and physical blessings when it suits his ends.  The one area which exposes the false situation is the absence of true spiritual guidance.

Be very careful if contemplating a move.  Check and recheck everything with the Word and the Lord.  Remember all of the past spiritual understandings which you know were bonafide.  God does not send you to a work which He is beginning, only to pull you out without giving further understanding of His direction.  Since God is not the author of confusion be especially cautious if the move is created by pressure or a lack. 
 
In open confrontation with Orion, he will demand compromise in return for fame, honor and riches.  He may insist on limitation of the area of your ministry or that he be allowed to handpick those to whom you minister.  More commonly, this sly spirit will gradually phase out any real deliverance or effectiveness on your part. 
 
Be suspicious if your personality has not undergone serious changes as a result of your own deliverances.  Beware if you still tend to be passive in your approach or have gone from an accelerated to a low speed life style.  Orion will pull into play every yet undelivered area in your life to accomplish his task.  Orion prefers the fair-haired, orator type personalities possessing a great deal of charisma which appeals to others.  Although he favors men, he also preys on women who are deeply concerned about spiritual matters and who have strong Jezebellian powers. 
 
Orion concentrates on leaders and seeks out those with education and natural beauty or social awareness and exposure.  Controlling them will put him in a trusted position of authority over a group or body of believers. 
 
When this dangerous demon gains entry, he influences through compromising the Word of God; strong pride and personal soul ties to a minister or acquaintance.  To free one from this influence: break all ungodly soul ties to anyone who might be bound by Orion; then deal with Pride (Leviathan); Prince Charming; Don Juan; Charisma; Attachment; Witchcraft; Psychic Prayer and all spirits connected with False Gifts or False Revelation. 
 
Ferret out anything which would help to create an “I’m too-good-to-be-true”  pastoral image.  Also be on the look out for Selfishness, Masculine Superiority, The Orator, Rebellion, False Ministry and the False Minister. 
 
If forced out, Orion always lingers nearby, attempting to reenter.  He utilizes Pride to undermine and infiltrate a ministry.
 
He can even enlist a type of perverted Pride in the one’s ability to be victorious over the enemy. 
 
If you detect Orion seeking reentry, first deal with Pride and Rebellion, then cut all ungodly soul ties.  Next, take a spiritual stand against: all family and peer pressures and all philosophical, semantic, theological and logical arguments against the deliverance ministry. 
 
Warn the individual that Orion will not cease his efforts.  Special precautions should be taken never to compromise the Word, nor to allow pride to enter any area.  Especially sensitive are those in the realm of spiritual abilities or gifts.

Derek Prince writes, “Today, by divine providence, the veils of convention and carnality are once again being drawn aside, and the church of Jesus Christ is being confronted by the same manifest opposition of demon power that confronted the church of the New Testament.  In these circumstances, the church must once again explore the resources of authority and power made available to her through the truth of the Scripture, the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and the Name and the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.” 
 
In the Scriptures, both holy and unholy spirit beings are designated as angels (Revelation 12:7).  Usually the unholy angels are referred to as demons, translated in the King James Version as devils.  The chief of the fallen angels is an archangel who has at least forty names given in Scripture.  Some are proper names, others are descriptive.  For example, in Revelation 12:10 he is called the accuser of the brethren.  He is called “that old Serpent” (Revelation 20:2), indicating his guile, Lucifer, Son of the Morning (Isaiah 14:12), his title when he fell.  Devil means accuser or slanderer and it is of Greek origin (Revelation 12:9).  Satan means adversary or resister and is of Hebrew origin; Apollyon means destroyer; the term Dragon speaks of his power.  He is also called Prince of devils (Matthew 9:34), Prince of this world (John 12:31), god of this world, and prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2).  Belial is implied to be his title in II Corinthians 6:15.  In II Kings 1:2, 6, & 16, he is referred to as Beelzebub, implying a prince of demons.  As Dr Chafer says, “In power, prominence and importance, Satan appears in the Bible second only to the Trinity.” 2
 
Second only, therefore, to knowing triune God and the value of His redeeming grace is knowing the truth about the enemy of God, who “as a roaring lion walketh about seeking who he may devour”  (I Peter 5:8).
 
Frances Manuel gives us this useful summation:  “We do have clear and plain teaching regarding the demons themselves.  Demons in vast numbers constitute a part of Satan’s hierarchy and fight in his army.  They are spiritual beings without bodies of their own, hence they seek embodiment; they have supernatural power and strength.  They are not omniscient, but are creatures of cunning intellect and given to deceits and wiles.  They are unclean, corrupt, and bent on destruction and ruin.  They degrade the bodies they invade and possess, whether of animals or men.  They tremble at the Word of God and have to bow to the authority of Jesus Christ whether exerted directly by Him or by those to whom He has delegated the authority to subject them.”  3 
 
Mrs. Penn-Lewis defines the satanic forces described in Ephesians 6:12 as:  Principalities – force and dominion dealing with nations and governments; Powers- having authority and power of action in all the spheres open to them; World Rulers – governing the darkness and blindness of the world at large; Wicked Spirits in heavenly places – the forces being directed in and upon the Church of Jesus Christ in wiles, fiery darts, onslaught, and every conceivable deception about doctrine which they are capable of planning.  4
 
She continues:  “All `teachings’ originating from deceiving spirits weaken the authority of the Scriptures; distort the teaching in the Scriptures; add to the Scriptures the thoughts of men; or put the Scriptures entirely aside . . . The test of all thought and belief therefore is its harmony with the written Scriptures in its full body of truth, and the attitude to the cross and sin.”  5
 
Dr. Chafer points out that the “Demon influence, like their activity, is prompted by two motives:  both to hinder the purpose of God for humanity, and to extend the authority of Satan.  They therefore, at the command of their king, willingly cooperate in all his God-dishonoring undertakings.  This influence is exercised both to mislead the unsaved and to wage an increasing war against the believer.” (Ephesians 6:12) 6
 
When you were born as a human being, you became the object of extreme hatred and jealousy from the Archangel Lucifer and his hosts, for it was on human beings (not angels) that God elected to display His grace, love and mercy unexcelled.  When Adam and Eve were placed in the Garden of Eden, and dominion over the earth was handed to Adam, Satan sulked and raged.  The earth was to be given over, not to another angel of rank and dignity, but to a mere handful of dirt.  The indignity could not be borne.
 
When he saw what God was doing in placing this puny creature in charge of his former domain, the devil immediately began to design an plan to plant rebellion in the man, thus to depose him from the position of overlordship God had given men.  Satan understood that only in this way could he dispose of this upstate and at the same time express his own disdain, hatred and anger toward God.  He succeeded, but what he did not know was that, although God had no alternative plan for angels, He did, in His great grace and love, have a way by which He could save His fallible creature man from his disastrous alliance with Lucifer.
 
When grace was extended to the man and woman in the Garden of Eden through the provision of substitutionary blood, the promise was made that some day God would send the Savior to be the Lamb of God.  Satan was outraged.  Love and grace were beyond his ken, and he could neither receive nor understand them.  Thus commenced the fierce battle between Satan and God for the control of the human beings God put on earth in the re-creation.  The Bible narrative is a continually unfolding story of the titanic struggle that Satan has waged to prevent the coming of the Messiah according to the Word of the Lord.
 
After being outmaneuvered by God and failing with Adam and Eve, Satan took note that God had said that the Savior would come through the seed of the woman.  He soon managed to deceive Cain into becoming the first “do-it yourself ” religionist.  Once Cain entered into the bondage of false religion, it was only a short step to the murder of the one who was worshipping in Spirit and in truth.  By persuading Cain to attempt a bloodless approach to God (insuring that he would be rejected by God) and then filling his heart with murderous rage toward his brother Abel, Satan thought he had a master foolproof plan.  Cain’s bloodless approach (like many today) denied the guilt of his soul before God and the necessity of death to cover the penalty of sin (Romans 3:23).  “The soul that sinneth it shall die.” (Ezekiel 18:4,20) 
 
When Cain killed Abel, the obedient son was removed.  Cain, smeared by his brother’s blood, was certain to be cursed and rejected by God.  What the devil did not know was that all the while God was preparing to circumvent all this through the birth of Seth, through whom the promise would pass.
 
The super angel continued to invade the affairs of men and by the time of Noah, he had managed, by supernatural power, to infiltrate the human race with angelic creatures who somehow took the bodies of humans (to father monstrous hybrid offspring, half demon and half human, Genesis 6:2).  They were giants in physical and mental stature, all depraved and incredibly wicked.  Satan reasoned that because the Messiah was to be the seed of a woman, by polluting the entire race, God would be unable to fulfill His promise of a Savior.  Certainly God’s Son would not be half demon!
 
At last, when the entire race had been tainted by the demonic strain, except for Noah and his family, God again struck the devil a mighty blow and had Noah prepare an ark.  With one sweep, God wiped out the entire polluted human race which had been defiled beyond redemption by demonic tampering (Genesis 6:5-7).  The flood again cleared the way for God’s perfect plan of redemption. Removing the demonic taint is the only logical explanation for God’s unprecedented complete destruction of the human race.  Drastic means were necessary.
 
Noah proved to be the glorious exception in an earth filled with violence and he found grace in the eyes of the Lord.  Through Noah’s obedience the human race was saved and the devil’s maneuvering was thwarted once again.
 
Satan struck next by creating incest in Noah’s family and by fomenting and stirring in the affairs of the descendants of Noah.  He steered the whole race again back into the bondage of idolatry and worship of the stars.  This culminated in the construction of the mighty ziggurat, know as the tower of Babel, a monument to man’s rebellion against God.  Again God intervened, this time breaking the unity of the people by confusing their languages, thus stopping construction of this expression of man’s disregard for God and His plan.
 
Satan continued to work ceaselessly to drag men and women away from the place of blessing to idolatry.  God in sovereign grace reached down into the midst of the idol worshippers and called out a man named Abram to follow Him.  Abraham, as he was later called, was led into stormy paths of faith and testings.  In spite of many human faults and failings, he enjoyed great success in the business of being God’s man.
 
The descendants of Abraham, chosen by God to carry out his promises, were sent into Egypt to sojourn during a famine, but like so many, they went to sojourn and stayed on and settled down, instead of returning to the land of promise.  Satan did this, as he still does, by giving material prosperity and abundance to persuade men to miss God’s perfect will.
 
The result was the galling slavery of Egyptian bondage which gripped them, and was to last for centuries.  Now, when they did desire to leave, they could not, being slaves.  The devil seemed to have carried the day.  However, faith was kept alive in Israel through the bones of Joseph and his prophecy that they would some day carry his bones back to the promised land (Genesis 50:25; Hebrews 11:22).  Triumph came in the call of Moses and his torturously slow preparation for the task leading the children of Israel out of Egypt and back to the land God had given them centuries before. On Mount Sinai, God gave them a perfect set of laws, but even while Moses was in communion with God on the mountain, Satan worked mightily.  This time he stirred up the licentious and lascivious desires of the people and arranged for a nude orgy of “worship” to the golden calf that had been manufactured by Aaron (Exodus 32:35).  This episode again illustrated the rebellion in their hearts.  There was a bloody judgment executed upon the disobedient as God called for absolute separation from idolatry.
 
After much purging and forty more years of agonizing preparation, God got His slow people ready for the victorious march into the promised land.  Always the devil sought to lead the people into idolatry and immorality in order to bring them to where God’s judgment was sure to fall upon them.
 
As Dr. Chafer observes, “Evidently demons have always been active in the world from the dawn of human history; but as the occasion may arise, they become more active at one time than at another.  When the Son of God came to earth, took a human body and was manifested in the flesh, the very Creator and God against Whom the demons had originally rebelled, there was a violent and powerful upsurge of demonic manifestations and power over all the world.  It was almost as if the unseen world, in torment and resentment at the presence of the Godman, went into fresh spasms of rebellion and fury.”  When the coming of the promised Messiah was near, there was a mighty Satanic upheaval.  The hosts of hell were rearing up to hinder this manifestation of the living Son of God on earth.  Even before He was born, Satan was stirred to oppose the Savior.  When Mary received the angelic visitation informing her of the miraculous conception of the Son of God in her womb, the adversary moved to attempt to convince Joseph to put her away, breaking the engagement and leaving Jesus to be born under the serious handicap of an illegitimate birth.  God intervened supernaturally, checking the enemy and eliminating all Joseph’s doubts about his bride to be.  Obediently, Joseph cloaked the Son of God with His name, thus protecting the mother and child from the stigma of a child born out of wedlock.
 
When the time for Jesus’ birth drew near, Satan struck again, moving Caesar to order a census (which was never completed).  Mary had to make a cross-country trip on the back of a donkey at a critical time in the pregnancy, but again God intervened to protect His Son, and Mary made the trip safely.
 
The enemy next arranged that every inn and room in the village be filled, leaving no room for the weary couple.  A stable was the only shelter available.  It was not the clean, beautiful place of the Christmas pageants, but a vile place, reeking of manure and urine, swarming with flies and maggots, loaded with disease germs.  In the unsanitary, filthy stable the Son of God was born.  From the natural and human standpoint, both mother and child should have died of childbed fever and infection, but again the Father overruled and protected them.
 
Satan never gives up.  About two years later, wise men arrived from the East, looking for a great King who had been born earlier.  Ordinarily you look for a prince to be born in the palace of a king; accordingly, they inquired of King Herod.  He was interested, especially when Satan whispered to him that this prince was a threat to his own throne.  Herod gave careful but hypocritical instructions to the Eastern visitors, pretending that he, too, wanted to worship the child king.  God moved and warned them in a dream not to report back to Herod after they visited and worshipped a “young child in a house” (not a new born babe in a manger) (Matthew 2:11, 16).
 
Herod’s fury knew no bounds when he discovered how he had been tricked.  Again, prompted by Satan, the King issued a decree condemning all babies two years and younger to be butchered.  In this way he felt confident he would rid himself of the new Prince.  God moved promptly, warning Joseph in a dream to flee to Egypt, which he did, escaping the trap set by the devil.
 
There were continuous attacks on Jesus during this days of ministry.  Slurs were hurled at his parentage:  “Where is thy father?” (John 8:19).  Attempts to trip him with catch questions and efforts to kill him were among the methods employed by the enemy.  All were successfully eluded by the Son of God.
 
When Jesus came to the end, the super attempt to forestall God’s plan was tried.  Satan sought to kill him physically in the garden, wringing from the Savior the anguished pleas for life to make it to the cross (Matthew 26:38,39).  To imagine that Jesus attempted to escape the cross at that zero hour, pleading with His Father to be spared from the awful anguish of the cross, seems to be totally out of keeping with Jesus’ character and mission in life.  His prayers, thrice uttered, were answered and the enemy was not permitted to kill him in the garden, but strength was given to make it all the way to Calvary.
 
On the cross He hung in agony and blood.  A supreme display for all time of the cruelty and harshness of the satanic forces, sin revealed in all its ugliness.  It was also a magnificent advertisement to all the ages showing God’s unfathomable love for the sinful creatures who stood under His righteous judgment.  For an accurate description of the sufferings on the cross, written hundreds of years before crucifixion was invented, read Psalm 22.  His death is detailed there as a result of a broken (ruptured) heart.
 
At the tomb, it seemed that Satan had finally triumphed but Praise God!  Early on the first day of the week, all was changed completely, for time and eternity.  The Son of God came out of that tomb, the keys of hell and death dangling at His belt (Revelation 1:18).  This was total victory!

Demons seem to fall into three broad categories.  The most powerful are those in the heavenlies, charged with the overall direction of Satan’s program.
 
There is also a bottom, lower echelon to which demons refer.  There are spirits who are not embodied in people, but who roam the earth carrying out orders to cause accidents, trouble and harassment to human beings.
 
The middle division seems to encompass those demons whose job is to gain entrance to mortal bodies.  They then attempt to manipulate, control and direct the victims, using trickery, lies, deception or whatever will secure the victims cooperation in their own destruction.  To steal, kill and destroy is always the goal of the spirits.
 
A demon recently boasted, “We control and direct their thoughts about themselves and others.  Especially we like to secretly infiltrate Christians thinking to turn them against each other.  Their unity of thought and purpose is dangerous and must be destroyed at all costs.”
 
This tactic of dividing and sowing suspicion among the believers he described as a chief mans to cripple the Body of Christ.  “A mortal’s biggest weakness is another mortal, so we set them against each other to rob, steal and hide anything they learn,” he continued.  He declared that entirely due to the stupidity and ignorance of the believers this maneuver is an astoundingly effective tool – 90% successful!  How sad that the soldiers of the Lord waste so much of their energy and time fighting each other while the enemy smirks and snickers at our ignorance.
 
Another sad commentary is the way Christians bite and devour one another.  Someone has well said that God’s army is the only one on earth which slaughters the wounded in its ranks!  All other armies provide special help and encouragement to those who fall in the battle.  It is great to be successful in the Lord’s army, but woe to the one who is tripped, snared and wounded by the enemy.  His former followers and comrades usually show little compassion or understanding for the injured warrior, and actually often attack and dispatch him in short order.
 
The top division of the demonic hierarchy supervises and closely monitors activities in the lower ranks.  This is to see that they are functioning efficiently and carrying out their assignments without violating any of the ground rules in Scripture.  Any violation here brings severe repercussions from the top ranks down.  Those occupying the commanding positions are stronger, more vicious and more intelligent that their underlings.
 
Within these three broad categories there are various levels and positions as well.  The well-spring of all power and authority is Lucifer, the fallen archangel.  It is interesting to note that Scriptures such as Luke 10:19 speak of “delegated authority.”  A free translation would be: “Behold I give you power (delegated authority) over all the power (delegated authority) of the enemy . .

Demons are very conscious of authority and adhere slavishly to the “chain of command”  and the line of authority structure.  There are Chief Kings and Chief Princes and under them are Kings and Princes who rule over various geographical and spiritual areas.  There are kingdoms, principalities, dominions and powers which are administered by Kings and Princes.
 
For example, each state in the United States is ruled over by a Prince.  Some examples:  Illinois (Roman Catholic); Indiana (Rebellion);  Pennsylvania (Woman Preacher); Louisiana (Southern Curses); Texas (Power); Minnesota (Adultery); Wisconsin (Madness [mental disorders]); Michigan (Psychology); New York (Sickness); Washington D.C. (Rebellion); Arkansas (Occult).  At the time this was written, Florida had changed from control by the Prince of the Occult to the Prince of Fantasy and California had switched from Woman Preacher to Fantasy.
 
The control of a geographical area seems to rest on the success of a prince in controlling the majority of the persons within that place, but it also has to do with the ferocity and power of that prince.  Raw power is the key to control in the Satanic structure.
 
A General is in charge of a Legion (6,000) while a Prince will control a number of Legions.  A Ruler or Captain commands a cohort (600), and there can be Chief Captains and Chief Rulers with still more authority.  A Centurion controls 100 demons and if he controls less than a hundred demons, he is called a Strongman.  Any demon in authority will direct how many, when and where pain spirits are to attack and how sustained the attack is to be.  These pain spirits are called Imps by those in charge.
 
Because of the rigid authority structure, a wise move in dealing with spirits is to bind all the spirits, especially the ruling ones and the ones of violence, fighting and murder.  If you are successful in this you will prevent them from galvanizing their strength against you and the workers, or at least will hinder it.  If after the binding, you are unable to dislodge the leaders, by-pass them and begin to pick off their root spirits.  These will be the lesser demons on whose strength they rely for holding out.  By digging away at the roots, you diminish the ruler’s power and weaken them.  This makes them easier to throw out later.  It is always in order to harass and wear down the enemy.

On several occasions while battling ruler demons in an individual there has been intervention by extremely strong spirits to hinder or stop the deliverance.  Through discernment and conflict with the demons I learned that these were spirits from the heavenlies, deliberately intervening to strengthen and reinforce embattled spirits in person.
 
Recently I had harassed and pressured a ruling spirit of Fear in a man until he was sobbing in defeat and begging for mercy.  Victory seemed almost in sight over a terrible bondage which had been present for many, many years.  Suddenly I was confronted, not by the broken defeated spirit, but another, far more powerful spirit, belligerent and defiant.
 
I demanded that he move back out of the way and let me get on with the casting out of the spirit of Fear.  He refused adamantly and insisted, “I’m not afraid of you, Worley.  I am strong and you will not be able to run over me like you have these weaker spirits.  Why, Worley, I’ll have you to know that I am a World Ruler of Fear and you are not about to free this stupid fool.  He belongs to us.  We’ve had him for years and you just leave us alone.”
 
I snapped back at him, “You were not here earlier, you just came in.”
 
“That’s right,”  he sneered, “and I’m here to put a stop to this foolishness.”
 
I bind you in Jesus’ name and you will not leave this man now until I tell you,”  I said firmly.
 
“You can’t do that, Worley,”  he mocked at me.
 
“Just try to get out then,”  I challenged.  There was a brief flash of fear in the eyes mingled with hatred, and the man’s body jerked about and twisted.  Next a growl and glowering eyes, “I hate your damned guts, Win Worley, and I’ll kill you for this!”
 
“What’s the matter,”  I chided, as the spirit grew more angry and agitated.
 
The hour was very late and I had a plane to catch in four hours.  I told the World Ruler of Fear that I was going to ask the Lord to have angels put all the spirits in boxes, including him. “You’ll never be able to do that to me, Worley.   Damn you to hell, let me out of here,” he demanded.
 
“No way, you are going to stay in there and marinate with an angel to read you the scriptures night and day.  You’ll learn not to interfere in deliverance.”  I told him.
 
“Worley, I’ll kill you for this,” he threatened.  I ignored his cursing protests and kept asking for angels until he was subdued and gagged and could no longer do anything but submit.  It took a bit of time for he was strong.
 
Did it work?  Oh yes, three weeks later the man came to the church for more deliverance and they found the World Ruler of Fear still there.  He raged and fomented and demanded that I loose him to leave.  I forced him to repeat some painful scriptures before he left screaming curses at me.  We have tremendous authority but must learn how to use it.
